Day 01 – Trek through Rainforest, Tea Estates & Remote Villages

Morning Start: Begin trekking from Haputale, passing through a protected rainforest and reaching a scenic cliff overlooking the colonial-era railway line used to transport tea to Colombo.

Tea Plantation Trek: Walk parallel to the railway amidst misty tea estates, cross one or two railway tunnels, and arrive at a hill country station before entering another forest leading to a picnic meal at a scenic viewpoint.

Village & Cultural Interaction: Trek through a remote tea estate village, observing tea plucking, weighing of harvests, and interacting with villagers, who were originally brought from India. Small gifts like pens or candies are appreciated.

Overnight Stay: Arrive at a basic yet clean home stay in a remote tea estate with panoramic views. Enjoy warm tea on arrival and a traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry dinner, accompanied by stories of local life from your hosts.
Day 02 – Devil’s Staircase, Waterfalls & Bambarakanda

Morning: Begin with a hearty breakfast and trek towards a mountain cliff viewpoint, descending through another remote tea estate and engaging with local villagers.

Devil’s Staircase: Pass the famous narrow trail with three hairpin bends, with breathtaking valley views.

Lanka Falls: Stop for a refreshing swim in the natural pool at the base of Lanka Falls and enjoy a picnic meal.

Bambarakanda Waterfall: Continue trekking to Sri Lanka’s highest waterfall, with optional access to its base for swimming.

End of Trek: Meet your driver at the trail end for onward travel in Sri Lanka. Recommended rest locations include Haputale or Diyatalawa, both within 45 minutes’ drive.
